Congratulations to HfG (University of Applied Sciences Schwäbisch Gmünd) master alumni Mario Rieker and Sven Hornburg: Their design project "POWERbänk – EV Charging Service", created in the second semester of the master program Strategic Design, was awarded the "iF Design Student Award 2023" in the category "Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure". For their master's thesis "muvit", the two HfG alumni also received the university award of the Sparkassenstiftung Ostalb in May 2023.
On Wednesday, June 28, 2023, University of Applied Sciences Schwäbisch Gmünd (HfG) invited interested visitors to a lecture on the life and work of the industrial designer Paula Straus. Paula Straus, born in Stuttgart in 1894, completed her training in Schwäbisch Gmünd. In 1943, she was murdered by the Nazis in the Auschwitz concentration camp. A current exhibition in Stuttgart was the occasion for the rediscovery of an important designer with local roots.
Johannes Rothkegel, Leon Burg, and Jannes Daur, students of University of Applied Sciences Schwäbisch Gmünd (HfG), received the "ADC Talent Award 2023 – Silver Nail" for their Invention Design project "DETACT – A tactile card system for people with blindness". The project "RepAiR – AR Repair Aid System" by HfG students Nicole Krein, Jun Wang, and André Jacoby received the "ADC Talent Award 2023 – Bronze Nail".
In mid-May 2023, University of Applied Sciences Schwäbisch Gmünd (HfG) hosted the international conference “reshape – How do Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning reshape the landscape of art and design?” The event was held in the context of the German KITeGG research project.
Celina Grundmann and Lasse Mieruch, graduates of HfG, received the “iphiGenia Gender Design Award“ in the “Volition“ category and the "if Design Student Award" for their Bachelor's thesis „K-WIR – A Crossmedia Consulting Concept and Practical Toolkit“.
In May 2023, University of Applied Sciences Schwäbisch Gmünd (HfG) hosted the International Seminar Week. A total of 20 workshops by lecturers from the HfG, but also from our partner universities, designers, and speakers from Israel, Italy, Hungary, Estonia, and Austria were on the agenda with regard to current developments in design, culture, and society.
